Before making lasagna, you should have certain things. You should have one pound of Italian sausage of sweet taste and beef of same weight as the sausage. You should have ½ cup of finely chopped onions. Two clove of garlic is required the most as it gives a good flavor. These things should be put in a pot and should be cooked for a while (5-10 minutes) in order to brown the beef. You should ensure that the meat is browned in moderate temperature. When the meat becomes brown, you should add 1 can of tomato puree of 25 ounce (700 g) and two cans of tomato sauce of 8 ounce (220 g) each. For adding more taste to it, you can also add two cans of tomato paste. ½ cup of water should be added to the dish after putting the tomato puree, sauce and paste. You should gently stir the mixture of tomatoes and the meat. After stirring it for five minutes, add 2 tablespoon of white sugar, 1 tablespoon of fennel seeds, 2 teaspoon of freshly chopped basil leaves, two tablespoons of chopped Italian parsley, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of Italian seasoning and ½ teaspoon of ground pepper. Stir the mixture gently and cover the pot letting the sauce of the meat to simmer. 1 and a half hour is an ideal time for it to simmer. Then it should be put in the refrigerator because taste good the next day of the cooking. You are also required to make lasagna noodles which are prepared as the ordinary noodles in hot water. These noodles should be mixed 1/2 teaspoon of grated nutmeg with 1.5 pound of ricotta cheese. An egg and two tablespoon of chopped parsley should be put in another bowl. After these steps, building the layers of the lasagna is also an important factor. You should use a 9 by 13 inch pan. You should spread two cups of the meat sauce on the pan. You should lay 6 noodles across the layer of the meat sauce. Then spread the ricotta cheese mixed with nutmeg over the noodles. Sprinkle 50 g of mozzarella cheese over ricotta cheese and then parmesan cheese over ricotta. You should repeat the steps of laying the meat sauce to sprinkling of the cheese.
